Project Steering Committee
The Columbia River Treaty Heritage Project Steering Committee (formed in August 2019) is made up of representatives from key Indigenous and non-Indigenous stakeholders and heritage, tourism, culture/arts and project management experts. The Steering Committee currently includes representatives from Kootenay Rockies Tourism Association, Ktunaxa Nation, Revelstoke Museum, Secwepemc/Shuswap Nation, the Sn̓ ʕaýckstx (Sinixt)/Arrow Lakes Tribe, Syilx Okanagan Nation, the Arrow Slocan Tourism Society, the Columbia River Treaty Local Governments’ Committee, the Government of BC (Heritage, Tourism, Regional Economic Operations, Ministry of Energy & Climate Solutions and Columbia River Treaty branches).
A key goal of the Steering Committee is to address Columbia Basin residents’ request for public education on the Columbia River Treaty and recognition of the Treaty’s impact to Columbia Basin Indigenous and non-Indigenous people and communities and to the environment.
The Steering Committee provides strategic direction, support, and guidance to the project. Together with the project support team, the Steering Committee has a shared role in decision making.
